Special Case CT

Malformation of the craniovertebral junction:
Paracondyloid process paracondylicus on the left side articulating with the transverse process of the atlas, paraconyloid mass on the right side (element that is located between occiput and transverse process and articulates with either). This yields a tripodlike situation at the craniovertebral junction with respective symptoms.
In addition a lateral ponticle on the left side of the atlas can be observed.

Left: Axial MPR.
Right: Coronal MPR; there is a distinct separation between the paracondyloid mass and the occiput.
Upper left and middle: 3D surface rendering of the occiput (white) and the atlas (yellow). Blue: Paracondyloid mass.
Upper right: Atlas.
Beneath: 3D surface rendering of the occiput, atlas, axis (orange), and C3 (red).
3D rendering und volume rendering of the osseus situation from dorsal.
Volume rendering of bones and muscles. Some strands of the M. obliquus capitis inf. connect to the paracondyloid process resp. mass.
