Special Case CT

Medical history:
49-year old patient with longstanding sarcoidosis. Known lesions in the lung, the spleen, and the liver. Longterm corticoid therapy.
Magnetic resonance imaging of the lumbar spine revealed a prevertebral mass.

Sacciform aneurysm of the abdominal aorta, having caused arrosion of the vertebrae.
Furthermore the findings include a massive enlargement of the spleen, and prevertebral lymphomas. Note the concrement in the left renal pelvis.

The sagittal und coronal reconstructions have been performed on an OmniPro workstation (Algotec, Elscint) as a curvilinear Mastercut®, i.e. reconstructions have been calculated along the axis of the vessel.

Aneurysms of the anterior cerebral artery, the thoracal aorta and the abdominal aorta have been observed in sarcoidosis patients. With this patient, the corticoid therapy has to be taken into consideration as a possible cause as well.
