Special Case MRI/CT

57 year old patient, having received replacement of the ascending aorta because of an aneurysm.

Aortic dissection (Stanford Type B) of the descending aorta (thoracic and abdominal), extending from the craniodorsal circumference of the aortic arch down to the aortic bifurcation.
At the level of the ventricles the true lumen is very small due to compression (CT slices, upper right).
The left renal artery is supplied by the false lumen with diminished perfusion (CT slices, bottom right); the inferior mesenteric artery arises from the false lumen as well.

MRI:
Left: sagittal slices (HASTE sequence)
Middle: Multiplanar reconstruction (MPR)
Right: Maximum intensity projection (MIP)
CT:
Left: Axial slices
Middle and right: 3D reconstruction
  Left: Stereoscopy (MRI: MIP)
Right: Animated GIF (203 KByte)
